Abstract

The metabolic differentiation of muscles of heart, bulbus arteriosus, pectoral and caudal regions of clupeoid fish, Notopterus notopterus has been elucidated in relation to moisture, glycogen, protein, lipid and phosphate contents. Heart muscles are characterised by high contents of glycogen and protein, whereas high water content is found in bulbus arteriosus, Lipid value is relatively higher in pectoral muscles. High phosphate values are found in the caudal muscles.
